UTxO Alliance Support
guerragab
Description
This proposal supports the continued development and coordination of the UTxO Alliance (UTxOA), focusing on structured collaboration and educational outreach. Core development work will include hosting monthly general meetings and working group sessions that bring together participants from member blockchains, academic institutions, developers, and ecosystem stakeholders. These meetings serve as both strategic coordination points and technical deep-dives, helping to align efforts and share progress across the UTxO community. In parallel, the project team will maintain and evolve member engagement processes—identifying, recruiting, and onboarding new members while actively fostering collaboration and communication among existing participants. The proposal also supports the creation of valuable community resources, such as video interviews with UTxO experts and contributors, and the development of the UTxO Handbook—a living document that consolidates best practices, technical insights, and accessible explanations of the UTxO model for a wide audience. Together, these efforts aim to create a more cohesive, educated, and empowered UTxO ecosystem, where Cardano benefits from gaining access to additional resources from UTxO communities.
Problem Statement
The blockchain ecosystem is fragmented, with different protocols and architectures often operating in silos, limiting interoperability and hindering innovation. UTXO-based blockchains, despite their strong security and scalability characteristics, face challenges in cross-chain collaboration, knowledge sharing, and coordinated development. Furthermore, the lack of a unified community or platform to bring together researchers, builders, and advocates of the UTXO model slows progress in addressing common technical barriers and in promoting broader adoption. This proposal seeks to address these gaps by supporting and expanding the UTxO Alliance (UTxOA), a collaborative initiative originally launched by IOG to unite stakeholders around the advancement of scalable, interoperable UTXO-based blockchain solutions.
Proposal Benefit
If implemented, this proposal will significantly strengthen the UTxO blockchain ecosystem by fostering collaboration among key stakeholders—including UTxO-based chains, academic blockchain centers conducting UTxO research, developers, and investors building UTxO-based services. By creating a space for shared knowledge and reusable technology, the initiative will reduce duplication of effort and accelerate technical progress across projects. In addition, the proposal will deliver public-facing educational content that demystifies the UTxO model, helping general users and developers better understand its advantages. This outreach and education effort will support onboarding of new participants into UTxO ecosystems—especially Cardano—thereby expanding its user base and increasing developer engagement. Ultimately, the proposal benefits the entire community by promoting a more interoperable, scalable, and vibrant UTxO environment centered around innovation and inclusion.

Cost Breakdown
The cost will be assigned to the 4-6 part-time project leaders for 12 months.
Resourcing & Duration
A team of 4-6 part-time project leaders: 12 months Contract developers, and designers as needed for UTxO projects such as an updated UTxO Guidebook, website updates, and additional features.
Experience
Our team has been working on the the Fund 11 'UTxO Alliance Content Manager' project continuosly since last year, establishing monthly Town Halls, a new website, and growing social media engagement. With direct experience managing the UTxO Alliance, we've facilitated collaboration between Cardano and other UTxO chains through events and technical working groups. Our members bring expertise from many organizations including IOG, academic research, and UTxO blockchains, having produced educational content and tools that increased community participation. This proven track record demonstrates our ability to execute this proposal effectively.
Maintenance & Support
This proposal includes a one-year commitment to ensure community engagement, and ongoing support for the UTxO Alliance initiatives. During this period, we will establish sustainable structures—such as partnerships to enable long-term continuity.
Supplementary Endorsement
This proposal builds on the momentum of the previously funded Catalyst Fund 11 project, 'UTXO Alliance Content Manager,' which successfully established key initiatives such as the UTXO Alliance Town Halls, increased social media engagement, UTxO handbook and the refresh of the website. The progress made so far demonstrates strong community support and lays a solid foundation for further collaboration.
