Description

Giiyo Tech proposes a 3-month blockchain training program to equip 50 participants in Cameroon with hands-on skills in blockchain development, governance, and ecosystem participation. The program includes instructor-led sessions, access to necessary infrastructure (computers, internet, power backup), and CBCA certification upon completion. The training will be conducted by experienced blockchain professionals and will cover smart contracts, dApps, and governance participation within the Cardano ecosystem.

Problem Statement

Cardano’s mission to bank the unbanked in Africa is ambitious, but in Cameroon, it is running into real-world roadblocks. The country has brilliant tech minds, but they are underrepresented in the Cardano ecosystem. This is not due to lack of interest but because of the following challenges. -Limited Access to Structured Education: There are no structured training programs tailored to Cardano. If you want to learn, collaborate, or get into governance offline, you are basically on your own.
-Cardano Ignores Local realities. Most tools are built without African use cases in mind. e.g most wallets don’t have Mobile money wallet payment or they don’t work. Also, developer tools assume constant internet and electricity, locking out builders in offline-heavy markets like Cameroon. Only about 60% of Cameroonians have internet access, and even then, connections are slow and unreliable. Frequent power cuts make it difficult for developers to work consistently. -Governance Participation Deficit. Limited understanding of protocol parameters, CIPs, or DRep roles in emerging communities.

Without intervention, Cameroonians risk being left behind while the rest of the world builds the future of finance.

Proposal Benefit

The Cardano Builders Community Bootcamp is a three-month intensive program designed to equip Cameroonian developers with the skills, infrastructure, and knowledge necessary to build impactful decentralized applications (dApps) on the Cardano blockchain. By implementing this training program, we will: -Equip 50 participants with blockchain development skills, increasing the talent pool for Cardano-related projects. -Provide hands-on training, mentorship, and certification, ensuring participants are ready to contribute to the ecosystem. -Foster local blockchain adoption, strengthening the Cardano community in Africa. -Create a model that can be replicated in other regions to drive global adoption.

Key Proposal Deliverables

-50 participants successfully trained and certified. -50 computers set up with necessary blockchain development tools. -Starlink internet installed and operational. -Participants actively engaging in Cardano’s governance and ecosystem post-training.

  • Radio & TV Ads, community engagement, social media ads – $18,000 Tech & Training Equipment Projectors, air conditioning, water cooler, coffee maker, sound systems – $21,160 Contingency Fund (8%) – $11,160 Total Budget: $163,220 In ADA: 272,033

Resourcing & Duration

Resourcing & Duration Estimates: Team: 3 instructors, 2 administrative staff, and 1 program coordinator. Duration: 3 months of training + 1 month for preparation.

Experience

Experience: Giiyo Tech has successfully organized multiple blockchain and STEM education workshops. Team members have expertise in Web3, blockchain governance, and software development.

Maintenance & Support

-The program will continue with support from Giiyo Tech and potential partnerships. -Graduates will be encouraged to mentor future cohorts and contribute to Cardano governance and membership-based Co-working Space In addition to free access for Cardano developers, non-Cardano developers can join the hub at a rate of $50 per month. Based on 100 members, this would generate approximately $60,000 per year. -Advanced Blockchain Training Sessions: Additional paid courses beyond the bootcamp. -Cardano-focused Research & Consultancy: Providing blockchain solutions to enterprises.

  • Enterprise Partnerships: Securing contracts with businesses that require Cardano blockchain integration.
  • dApp Development and Service Offerings: Building decentralized applications (dApps) for enterprises.
